Dear Spirit to Spirit friend,
In this wonderful poem, Carrie Newcomer invites us into seeing who we truly are- what we are all born with and as- and what life is... in her own beautifully unique way.
“On the day you were born,
Something shining came with you.
Something that was already you,
And only you,
Arrived.
On the day you were born,
The world opened up
And welcomed you
Into the turning of seasons,
The phases of the moon,
The migration of birds,
The in and out breathing
Of the tides.
On the day you were born,
The wind held true to its course,
The creek rose and fell,
And the trees reached down and then up.
On the day you were born,
Fire burned in the West
And snow fell in the North.
The clock didn't stop
You just stepped into time.
On the day you were born
I was forever assured
Yet forever uncertain,
How it happens and what it is
That comes and then leaves,
is sent and recalled,
From luminous to luminous.
To live for a while
In all that is luminous in between.
On the day you were born,
Something shining came with you,
Something that was already you,
And only you,
Arrived."
In Gratitude & Love, Joanna
