"For as long as I can remember, I have adored animals. As a young child, I wanted to be near them all the time. I felt a special connection with animals, especially horses. I didn't know that what I was feeling was more than childhood affection. Deep inside me, I felt like one of them. Somehow I knew: we were the same.

When I was in 5th grade, my class was asked to make a career book. I couldn't decide if I wanted to be an actress or a veterinarian. Since what I loved most was animals, I decided that I would become a vet. However, as I gathered information about veterinary medicine, something in me -- even at that young age -- knew that I could not follow this path as a way to help animals heal. So, I followed my other dream and pursued an acting career for many years. It was during this perod of time that I discovered the path of spiritual healing and my life's work as a healer and communicator for animals."

Joanna began her studies in spiritual healing at the Personal Realization Center in Connecticut, under the auspices of Rev. Edward F. Knudsen. After seven years of study and training, she received certification as Minister of Healing in 1985.

Joanna became certified in Brennan Healing Science at the internationally renowned Barbara Brennan School of Healing (BBSH) in 1993. After completing this four-year training program, she joined the faculty. For seven years, Joanna instructed and supervised students at BBSH. She also worked as a mentor, teacher and supervisor in the Teachers' Development and Training Program.

A member of the founding class of A Society of Souls (ASOS) under the leadership of Jason Shulman, Joanna graduated the three-year training program in Integrated Kabbalistic Healing (IKH) in 1996.

In 1996, Joanna received certification in Integrative Psychology after completing the three-year psychology training program -- instructed by Alexis Johnson, Judith Schmidt and Barbara Miller -- at the Center for Intentional Living (CIL).

A believer in lifelong education, she has studied telepathic animal communication with Penelope Smith as well as esoteric studies and energy healing modalities with other acclaimed teachers.
